Default Sea Trout flies for Dovey in mid June ?

Hi all, i have been made official fly tyer and provider for our family group fishing the Dovey in a couple of weeks could any of you recommend me any patterns, i was hoping to knock out a few tubes in the usual black/silver and blue/silver? would anyone have a link for where i could buy some of the ultra thin tubes as seen in this months Trout and salmon, summer sea trout section? I think they are stainless steel.
Also has anyone got any suggestions for a couple of dropper patterns?
I have also toyed with the idea of replacing jungle cock eyes with some very small 3D epoxy eyes on some tubes etc. has anyone tried this? I know it goes against tradition and that any other tips on lines, leaders etc. in fact any tips at all !! your views and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

cheers Rob...

Grays of Kilsyth ,will do you the thin tubes , rather good they are as well .long time since I was a Dovey regular but I would go for the Haslam as a dropper fly!
FLY TYING TUBES - Fine stainless steel fly tubes for salmon tube flies
get you to the tubes , get one of his vices as well not expensive and will let you dress some much more efficiently ,rather than trebles I like to fish these tubes with partridge big mouth doubles.
Enjoy your trip !

Thanks Andy, have ordered the tubes - a good selection - & the vice - and the spare head - Well it is my birthday tomorrow
thanks for the link perfect
I too like the Haslam, will take your advice and tie some smaller ones the ones I have are fairly big maybe more of a point fly?
Would you try the tiny epoxy eyes? have tied some bass flies and they look really good, would they bulk out the head too much ? for sea trout ?

anyone got any tips on lines etc. last time i went - 2 years ago i fished an intermediate most of the time, the river was quite devoid of fish though and needed a good flush, which it got as soon as we left

Sorry for all the questions only i fish stillwaters most of the time and rarely get chance to go on the rivers, so i want to give it my best shot, have been reading up but its no substitute for local knowledge and personal experience.

thanks in advance for all your tips and advice.

one hour till my birthday, surely i can start celebrating now

cheers Rob...

Rob, you will get them pretty quickly .
john is a good guy to deal with .
As too the eyes , I guess they would work al though I am a jungle cock fan and use those on many of my tubes ,its really a confidence thing ,and what works for me may not for you.
Sorry thats not very helpful ,but there is often no right or wrong way with fly patterns .
As to lines , an inter is an essential , I tend not too go heavier than a wet2 type line though there are fans of much faster sinking lines .
Enjoy your trip!

Hi Andy & Moscowdog, thanks again for the tips, the tubes and vices etc. arrived today, very happy, spent 2 hours trying to figure a way of converting the heads to fit my Nor-vise then gave up and used a clamp
tied a dozen or so tubes tonighht on the needle tubes and they look great, so really looking forward to giving them a fish.
Moscow where is Penddol??
Last time we fished there I fished Georges pool and down towards the sea, one place we fished was the stretch where you cross the railway line and a long deep pool before the bend in river, there was a seat right on the bend?
I'm only asking because my Uncle caught his first ever sea trout there 12lbs +
Thanks to John at Greys of Kilsyth, exellent products and superb service, will be back.

cheers Rob.....
