Default Human Kindness and Helping hands!

I recently saw a thread on this forum, Re, tying very small flies (Caenis) I thought the post was well written and some excellent photos of a step by step tying method! I posted a reply congratulating the fly tier on his skill; and also mentioned that I could no longer tie such small flies!

I did not expect a message via PM, offering me some of the flies shown on the forum thread! I offered to buy a few of the flies in question! But, this Gentleman from Cowdenbeath, refused any payment!

I received in the post this morning by recorded delivery, 14, beautifully tied flies.

I wont mention the name of this kind and generous person; but just say I'm extremely grateful for his kindness and his skill in being able to tie such perfect imitations!

It never ceases to amaze me, the friendship, help and generosity we experience on this forum!

My sincere regards

Mostyn

Having been on the receiving (and sending end) of this type of exchange it has been a delight to 'watch my mail.'

Been on the recieving end too very heartwarming, I do what I can to help others too. My earlier reaction was because this thread brightened what was otherwise a not-very-nice day owing to my bike being stolen last night. I was pleased to see there was some good karma to balance out the bad today

Yes, Restores your faith in human nature; and just goes to show that some people care about others!

Really sorry to hear about your Bike being stolen! But what goes round - comes round! Lets hope the thief will at some point in their lives, feel as upset as you feel right now!

A very nice gesture from your benefactor Mostyn, but will you be able to see such small flies at your age.

Steven,

The flies are so well tied; I think I'll be able to see them at close range? Hopefully! And I'm going to tie some 2LB tippet to them before I leave the house, in preparation for caenis fishing on the river! Hey, your so right about age having an affect on seeing and tying on small flies; but I'll struggle on!
