Pheasant feather query

Thinking of tying up some Invictas - pattern says to use cock pheasant for wing but I've only got hen pheasant. Would it be ok to use this or is it too soft? Thanks for any advice.

Hen pheasant centre tails are the tradtitional wing material.
You can use hen pheasant wing feather slips instead, as the fibres marry better.
