Default Beginners Fly Swap - Part Deux - Nymphs

Hi All,

The last one proved to be popular and people are keen for the next one to start, for which Nymphs seems to be the choice tying. No specific fly, open to anything with no restriction on size; hopefully this will give us a good selection but there is no reason why we can't have 2 or 3 of the same fly - I'm sure you'll all make them different!

So, same format as last time, 10 tyers, tying 11 flies with the 11th going to Casting for Recovery.

If you are interested in participating please send me a PM and let me know what you intend on tying.

Let's try and get the group confirmed by 5th June.

Flies to me by the 19th June.

The below list includes those who expressed an interested in being involved in the next swap - I'm assuming this still stands so please let me know if this is still correct!

1 - Me (Diawl Bach of some description)
2 - Christy27 (Peeping Caddis) RECEIVED
3 - Scubacrazy123 (Peacock/ostrich herl Nymph) RECEIVED
4 - Bruno (crunchers) RECEIVED
5 - Haddock (red arsed diawl Bach)
6 - Neil26 RECEIVED
7 - sunkistbob (hares ear/diawl bach) RECEIVED
8 - Arcticwolf (caddis grub) RECEIVED
9 - Palindromic_Bob (PTN)
10 - James220685 RECEIVED

Cheers!

Rich

Ace
I'll do a red holo arsed diawl bach, already had to tie up a few more for myself today as the local trout keep stealing them!

I can do Hares Ears or Diawl Bachs and as DB's are already listed, I can do Hares Ears if you like?

Thank you very much...........

I am really just after some of Bruno's crunchers and this seems a good way of doing so

Thanks for counting me in Rich !
I think these swaps are a great way to learn a pattern. Looking forward to it.
I'll do some Pheasant and Ostrich herl nymphs, I've had a few on this pattern, and it will give me a chance to practice them!
Cheers,
Gary.

here is my tie..Caddis Larva..

Hook: TMC 2488 (or any scud hook) 12-16
Abdomen: Embroidery yarn (colour to match body)
Dubbing: Natural rabbit
Thorax: peacock herl
Head: black glass bead

Slip glass bead on the hook.
Embroidery cotton comes in a six strand yarn. Cut a 6" piece of yarn and separate out the strands. Take one strand and tie in both ends at curve of the hook. Place the tiniest pinch of dubbing between the strands and no more than a quarter inch from the tie in point. Twist the doubled strand into a single rope (I use a dubing spinner to get a very tight rope). apply the peacock herl to the head, whip finish/add SH..done!.

I'm actually getting really nervous about this .

I have had a few on the PTN's I've tied although they are far from perfect I hope that maybe you guys will try them and failing that tell me what I could be doing better. Only been tying for 2 or 3 weeks.

Looking forward to seeing what your patterns are like.
