Presumably for mayflies you use them as hackles?

They are not used on true bumbles as they are to soft and would defeat the purpose of what a bumble is all about, they are used as the head hackles on Wet Mayflies and Straddle Bugs in both natural and dyed form. Agree with Boony, g bigtrout has some excellent examples of mayfly patterns listed using this hackle
Pull the fibres back and tie in by the tip of the feather.
