Default What is your favourite hook?

For fly tying.

For me I do like the Partridge hooks of recent past - Captain Hamilton range are very comfortable to tie with.

How about you?

If you're asking people's favourite hook maker then Kamasan do it for me. If you mean a favourite hook, I haven't got one because it would depend on what type of fly I'm tying . . .

95% of my tying is done with Kamasan hard to beat for good quality for a great price.

As second vote here. Not sure of the designation, but the Silver Salar doubles are in a class by themselves. Not even sure they make them anymore, and if/when you find them on this side of the Pond the next question/comment is 'How many do you have, and can I buy them all?'

For winter steelhead ties they're in a class by themselves, fish just touches your fly and you've got him. One other I like, as odd as it may seem, is a straight shanked, ring eyed 'Siwash' type hook behind a tube or Waddington shank. From a #4 to a 1/0 these also seem to get the job done, especially if the fish are 'short strikers.'

I generally like what ever is being sold in the classifieds at the time.......

I do like Kamasan but the blob hooks the Pirate sent me are great looking pieces or iron.

On that note..........as a youngster, Mustad were considered the b0llocks; why are not so apparently popular in the fly-tying world?
