Default Favourite River Flies Swap - Softmouth Trout Fundraiser

Favourite River Flies Swap (with two flies donated to an auction fly box to help the WTT / Softmouth Trout).

Thanks to Anderson Angling for donating a fly box to XL50 (see last swap).

Start Date 13th May 2010 – photo results will be posted at the end - Update: Photos on Page 9.
The level is loosely described as intermediate but we’re looking at as good a quality as each tyer can manage.

9 tyers are included and 2 extra done to go into a kindly donated fly box for auction. ‘Guest Stars’ are more than welcome to add just a couple of flies to the box if they wish to and tie anything 'river related'. So that should be 11 flies from each participant in the main swap group, run like any other swap but any donations towards the fund raising will be greatly appreciated from guests.

Chosen pattern to be confirmed over the next week or so.

The Tyers:

01. Splashtestdummy – Hosting - Small Klinkhammer, plus a few Parachute Adams for the box
02. XL50 - work pressures mean John has had to duck this one
03. Squeeks - Norwegian Heinz 57 - Received 04th June
04. Duttontom - Crystal Midge - Received 05th June
05. Tafftastic 'Del Monte' - CDC & Elk - Received 03rd June
06. Hootsmun - Quill Klinkhammer, plus a few Royal Wulff's for the box - Received 04th June
07. Mayflyjunky
08. 1973Dereks - Received 05th June
09. Buzz - LDO Emerger - Received 03rd June
10. Chris Reeves Coffin Fly (Mayfly Spinner), plus a few Mayflies for the box - Received 25th May

The Guest Tyers 'Gentleman's Lounge' (ladies welcome):

Ongoing from last swap plus:
People are always welcome to tie just a few in here (outside of the main swap)
01. Buzz - Received 03rd June
02. Chris Reeves www.fishingclass.co.uk - Received 25th May
03. G Bigtrout
04. Hootsmun - Received 04th June
05. Troutbumnathan - - Received 04th June

End Date Saturday 5th June 2010
i.e. Flies to be received here in sunny Gloucestershire by Saturday 5th June; I will aim to photograph and post on the forum / return in the Royal Mail asap.

A small SAE Jiffy bag (with return postage attached) works well, sent inside a plain envelope, I do however have a surplus of padded envelopes ... so if you could send a large stick on address label with return postage for a large letter, then that would be fine. From our experience with the previous swaps, it's good to include a small but well proportioned plastic hook box for safe delivery and return of flies (I'll return what is sent to me, bear in mind that the packages might get rolled through all sorts of machinery in a central sorting depot and the box shouldn't be too deep as it will accrue extra charges from Royal Mail).

I'll PM the postal address out later by request ... as ever, any questions / issues then please PM me.

Fly choices to follow !!!

Buzz has just come in as well, he will be in the swap but also doing a few extras - I've been given some for personal use from Buzz in the past; his work is great and as we know, they produce real results, so a very welcome addition.

We're ok with the box we've got I think, I can shuffle things in a bit tighter and we've got a whole leaf and a bit left over still going spare - Louis Noble has also sent a big plastic split container, which I can use for any that can't be squeezed in.

PM on the way.

Chris, we'll put you in as number 10 and close the doors.

If you do the 12 of a single fly type for the main swap, then two go into the charity box anyway - usually we pick off the tail enders and send to CFR but as this one is an auction, the top end flies go in the box - you obviously tie a fair bit more than most of us, so no problems there I'm sure . If you'd rather just do a few as a guest then let me know.

If you fancy adding a few extras beyond the set number, then up to you (can be a different type of course).

Many thanks for getting involved and welcome on board .
