All though they're harder than heck to find on this side of the Pond, there's just something about silver Salar hooks that sets them in a league of their own. Don't think they make the silver-double anymore but that was the finest of its kind I've ever used for this type of pattern.

One of you fellows sent me a few test patterns to use for winter Steelhead fishing a couple of years back. Amazing, 6 of the first 8 fish I hooked were on a similar pattern to what you have above (done on the doubles). Fish just touched the fly and it was 'Game On.'

It does the job over here Fred, most of my fish last season came to this fly the rest were on a Cascade with a gold body.
