Default Best Place for Materials Online

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a preferred online site to purchase fly tying materials. I was looking at the kits on Cabellas and Bass Pro Shops, but I was thinking there might be another place out there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Gusto

PM to ruthvenflyfisher (artifly), I'd advise if you are a beginner to draw up a list of flies you like to fish with the most and your budget, Gerry's a helpfull guy and will probably give you some good options for what you wish to tie.

My biggest mistake when learning was buying cheaper (and usually lower quality) materials, but most of us have a budget. I'd definetely advise to buy a top quality thread like a uni thread, cheap threads are frustrating if you have the deft touch of a baby elephant as I do.

For range of products Fly-tying materials and fly tying tools and accessories - Lakeland Fly-Tying is very hard to beat, for 110% quality goods & service there#s Cookshill Fly Tying Materials (best to phone Steve Cooper on this one) Phil at Fly Tying Materials, Fly Tying Equipment, Fly Fishing, Fly Tying – Fly Tying Boutique has some very interesting stuff as has www.deercreek.co.uk

By the way welcome along to the forum

There are a host of folk that provide great products and excellent service... Stuart & Vicky at Fly-Only and Austen at UKSaltwaterflies should also be added to the list... then there is Lathkill the list could go on... look also for WCBflytying in the Trade classifieds his range of Funky synthetic products and Funky Eyes are fantastic... there are tons more and no doubt folk will chip in with more during the day... oh forgot Andy at Essential Fly.... see loads and loads of good guys and gals out there...

I'll second Arkle on this one:

Lakeland has a lot of bits and bobs (some really nice Whiting capes when in stock)

Phil @ the Fly Tying Boutique and Steve @ Cookshill are excellent when it comes to customer service and top quality materials.

Fantastic customer service and a good range of products also from Sandra @ the Anglers Lodge (probably one of the better place to look for a complete beginner, I wish someone would have pointed me there when I started).
