Well why not?...i do have good success on suspender buzzers and olive is my main catcher

If you look very carefully in Mottram's Books from 1915-1920 you may find something closely similar !

I believe he was the first with this dressing in effect !

am I correct in my observation of this fly to state that the 'foam' is as long as the hook, and as wide as the 'gap' of the hook?...but the thickness is....???

Nearly..i will trim another wee bit of top though....took a trip to local art and craft shop where they had loads of foam in a bin,...when i enquired about it bloke just said help yourself mate, so i got life time of foam for free...real tough stuff and not easy for the fish to rip.

Click the image to open in full size....yes, dense foam is obtainable over here as well, but do you know the thickness of the foam you are using ..would it be 2mm or ???

Sorry mate.....the foam sheet itself is 7mm.

I tend to cut a length of roughly the same thickness with a large pair of scissors, but you could reduce it further for smaller flies if you like...if your aiming for 2mm maybe slice it with stanley knife.
