Default Royal Wulff

Haven't tied this pattern before so i thought id give it a go.Need more practice on my dries before summer.

Nice fly there . Try a variantion using cock hackle fibres for the tail and poly yarn for the wings, I find working with deer/elk hair a nightmare so use this version instead.

I dont mind tying with deer you just have to take it by the scruff of the neck when you use it.

I'm with geordie. Your wing tuft material..guessing its calf, would be perfect for the tail, if its deer as well its definately finer than the tail and would be a better choice. Prefer my hackle a little shorter and a little more bushy..... but.... this is the one fly I dont mind buying, cause i find it a pain to balance right, and heartbraking after all the effort to lose it to a hawthorn.

How come the hackle colour?

Think your right about the tail and the wing is calf.I was just trying out a new cape hence the colour.

our trout and chub would love that. I am really rather fond of the hackle colour, Maybe we can call it the Royal Hootsmun!
