Heads up from Lidl (of all places)
Was in this store yesterday and looking at the fishing tackle they had (usual cheap and thing waders etc), then noticed the fishing bags had.
My immediate reaction was "I've already got three of these as they look just like the ones that Aldi sell occasionally", then had a closer inspection and was glad I did.
The Lidl box is filled with plastic comartment boxes, both in the main bag compartment and also both end pockets. In essence, it's a smaller version of the Partridge WorkStation bag (the one that weighs a ton), but has just as much storage.
So, the reason for the purchase was as a portable fly tying station.
I've yet to decide how to fill it etc, but as all the internal boxes can have different variations of cross sections, you can make compartments to fit nearly all types of fly tying materials.
The best part was, it as £20. Not a lot for what I thought was a lot of kit. Dimensions are (H) 300m x (W) 280mm x (D) 220mm for the main compartment of the bag. Internal boxes are (H) 42mm x (W) 275mm x (D) 185mm, and you get 6 of these. The boxes in the two end compartments are (H) 39mm x (W) 198mm x (D) 135mm and you get one box per end pocket.
There is also a large pocket on the front of the bag that would easily house most vices.
The bag seems to be well made and quite sturdy, but as it's not going to be thrown around as much as my fishing tackle is, it doesn't matter as much.
I can't find a link to it on the Lidl site, so I'm guessing it's not one of their current offers, however I guess you might find one in your local store if you tried.
Hope this is of help to someone.
