Default Whats so special about Jungle Cock ?

This may sound like a stupid question, but why is Jungle Cock so special ? Does it have some special magic that gives flies the edge ?

Without doubt, for me it instills confidence while sea trout fishing, and without confidence in the fly you're on a hiding to nothing. For that reason I wouldn't catch as many using a fly that didn't have JC. As for irrefutable proof, well that's impossible to answer anyway.

No good asking me
Seriously though, I believe it's a throw back to a bygone era of fly tying when feathers from exotic birds, i.e. Blue Chatterr, Indian Crow, Scarlet Ibis, Jungle Cock etc. were incorporated into classic flies. For some reason Jungle Cock seems to remain in favour, perhaps because of it's unique 'look' - I dunno . . . . . . . . . .
An intersting thread !

Jungle cock is I suppose the best way to describe it is: A target/sweet spot for the fish, an attractor, a confidence thing for the fisher, and money spinning product to the suppliers. You see its all of those things and more.

I like them on my snatchers and wouldn't be without them, not even Goose Biots come close for me.

Totally agree, it installs confidence for me too when sea trouting. I think it looks like eyes and when matched with some silver on the body, I just know it's going to aggravate a trout like hell. Jungle cock is science.

Jungle cock viva is a must for early season. Dunkeld I am not so sure and Snatchers definately makes a target point.
