Default How to even up the shank on a salmon hook

I have just got a box of b180 salmon singles and have discovered that the eye on the is looped over and the ran part way down the shank of the hook so when ever up tye flies on them they end up with a sudden narrowing in the body of them as you reach the end of the doubled section.
How do you get round this problem apart from doing what kamasan should have done and stopped the eye at the eye

Just extend the head of the fly,or tie it further back, if you think its a problem. Also try putting a lenght of the Fits, xs tubing on the shank, and tie over it. Bead heads, the list goes on!!!

A lot of salmon singles are like this. Tie you thread on when you get just past the looped eye and on the the single shank, add some oval tinsel in and either use it as a rib or a tag or both. It wont solve the problem completely but it will help, by not having such a sharp step.

Here is a video of Davie Mcphails, which should help.
