Thumbs up Artifly Dubbing Samples

I was lucky enough to get a free set of Gerry’s dubbing as a tryout. I thought it was only fair that I tied up a set of flies using the new gear. I picked a different pattern of fly for each dubbing. I also tried to tie the type of fly that Gerry would appreciate.

Tying wise the dubbing is nice, OK it’s seals fur, so is never going to be the easiest, but with a bit of universal lubricant (spit) on my fingers I got it to dub nice and tight where required. All of the colours are blends, which I really like. I tend to blend flat colours to get some high and low lights in anyway. I probably wouldn’t have come up with some of the colour combo’s but they all look great.

First up, and the only one I’ve ‘named’ the dubbing for this one contains orange, lime (probably hot olive), peach and a purple colour that I’m calling Victoria plum hence the;

Fruit Salad Dabbler (OK some of the names of the colours are a bit tenuous )

Thanks again to Gerry for the samples, hope you like the flies .

Any comments gratefully received.

Nice tyings youve done Gerry and the dubbing proud. I especially like your Hot Sedgehog. Sedgehogs are 1 of my favorite hill loch flies.
