Parachute Flies Not Floating Correctly
I don't like using floatants because I think if I touch the tippet with the same hands it's very difficult to get it to sink. So I usually use cdc in my dry flies so floatant isn't usually necessary, but when fishing parachutes, if the parachute post is cdc and the fly is floating only by this then is it really floating correctly? Particularly if using a cdc post but also a normal post of yarn, I often get the fly floating with the parachute hackles in the vertical plane instead of in proper horizontal plane. Is this from having the parachute too far forward? Any suggestions? (having sharply curved hooks like kamazan b100 or partridge klinkhammer extreme helps the flies to stay upright but I would like to use straight hooks for parachute duns.)
