Default Beaded Olive Nymph

This is a little olive nymph that caught me a new p.b grayling on the Irfon a few weeks ago. After seeing the natural Baetis etc... i think i should maybe try and tie them a bit thinner, any advice would be great.

Hook: Size 14 Kamasan B175
Bead: 2mm Tungsten Olive
Tail: Olive pheasant tail
Abdomen: Olive PT
Rib: Copper transformer wire
Thorax: Mix of olive and natural hares ear
Wing case and legs: Olive PT

And the grayling, i think it was probably just over a pound but put up a lovely fight.

Nothing at all wrong with that. You don't need to worry about the profile as it will pass for the broad headed profile of the heptagenid/ecdyonurus nymphs (stoneclingers) equally well.

The Grayling in the picture is the best critic of your fly !
If I were you I'd tie a couple of dozen more
I'd give you 1-1/2lb's for the fish as well . . . . . . .
Any chance of the flies recipe mate ???

All the best for a great pattern & a great fish !!

Nice looking fly. What size is the hook? It gives the impression of being thick bodied because it's quite short in length, maybe a slightly longer hook shank would help to elongate the fly slightly making it look thinner!? But as NCA says it makes a good stoneclinger shaped nymph.

Cheers for the kind words guys, i have added the recipe to the first post now. Nothing exciting there i am afraid I am a big fan of simple materials.
