Not really a Cruncher BD.... with the cock hackle and a goldhead.

Had a wee check Scratch and I see some patterns use a hen hackle whereas some use a cock hackle but it would appear the original does in fact use the latter.

I guess I should've checked before tying it up but it wouldn't make any difference as I only have a Greenwells cock cape anyway. Maybe a hen cape should be added to the shopping list ?

Do you think it qualifies as a Cruncher variant or would it fall into another category of flees such as the Blue Peter's ?

( Oh aye, is me photographs getting any better ? )

Not sure about the purple background on yer pic BD, but at least we can see what's going on with the fly

I'm surprised to hear that the original cruncher called for cock hackle.... just seems to make sense to tie it with hen.

Haven't the foggiest notion what a Blue Peter is mate

My mistake Scratch I said latter when I meant former in relation to a hen hackle being the correct choice for crunchers.

If you blow the picture up using your zoom function you'll get a better look.

When I crop and resize to get a more detailed fly it always goes out of focus. I think I need a Macro lens either that or better image processing software.

Aye.... sticky-back plastic, a bog roll tube, an empty egg box, some pipe cleaners, a B175 and lots of parental supervision

Covers a multitude of flees with no names however I don't think Rob's recipe would be very serviceable unless it was for use in his paddling pool or bath when playing with his other toys.
