The correct tying of a GT is with a Peacock blue as a head hackle, which if tied correctly leaves a cleft on one side. Name comes from cleft in a goats foot that seperates the hoof into two toes.

The key to the effectiveness of the GT is the Blue hackle turning irridesent green when wet, so using blue jay or dyed Guinea fowl is pointless really, as is cloaking it in bronze mallard.

Be interesting to see a step by step tying of the original GT, peacock blues are a ****** to tie in correctly.
