Jimmy,
You twitt! That's a Peterson's Pennel muddler. I refer you to S Headley's Trout & Salmon Flies of Scotland.

What a lovely fly!
Though I think you are being a bit modest
A Goats Toe with no herl or red?
This fly deserves a new name.

No, Bear, you are wrong. You can't take an already recognised pattern (especially one of mine), stick a muddler head on it and call it anything you like. There are some rules, after all.

Stan I would say you are wrong and may I suggest you get of yer high horse, firstly Wee Jimmys fly has Balinderry Black seals fur body and Palmered body hackle yours had plain black secondly the head hackle you used was the Bottle Green neck feather where as wee jimmys has the blue neck feather so I would say his Pattern is further away from a Petersons Pennel than yours is from a Kate MacLaren all you have done with a Kate is changed the head hackle and used a different type of feather to create the yellow tail and have then called it anything you liked, talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Hope someone is kind enough to hand you your rattle back. You even state in your book that the Petersons Pennell it is similar to a Goats Toe so why cant Wee Jimmy? !!!!
Nice fly Wee Jimmy and will give your Goats Toe Muddler a swim this season

You are talking spheroids. Did you notice that even Wee Jimmy agreed that it was a Peterson's Pennel Muddler?
The Peterson's Pennel is palmered, and I have always referred to the original Kate McLaren when I've pottered about with the dressing. Never have had the neck to call it anything else.
Get your facts right and ease of on the personal abuse.
