DAVYTYE, i am currently using it and i can assure you it is immensely strong thread, splits very easily, very very little build up with wraps, not tried bending a size 8 in the vice ,but now you mention it i shall try with an 8 downwards just to see

Default bending the hook !!!!!!!!!!

davy ,

i have just been trying with a partridge yk4a #8(which is a pretty thick wire) i wrapped the silk and took it back to around 5mm back from the eye didn't want to do it right at the eye as a lot of thread would bend hooks from there , i can assure you it has bent the hook even from that point not massively but it did until i pulled the hook from the jaws(snowbee flymate vice) which have a damn good hook hold usually hope this helps seeing as i tried from what i would say a very strong point on the hook in the vice, most definitely stronger than at the eye

I have been using it for a couple of weeks and am very impressed.

I usually use Roman Moser but the Semperfli is just as good, if not better. Its easier to cut than RM, easy to split and less prone to getting lumps of colour like the RM Powersilk does.

I shall be ordering more in the future, especially as Grommit stocks it.

And that is an advantage in tying?
I dare say it can but it will also cut the hand off you if you are not careful.
Might be wise to learn to control "normal" thread before using this type of stuff.
Should probably come with a risk assessment & method statement.

Default Scissors....

On the scissors question , I haven't seen this particular thread yet , but have used the other kevlar type threads (which I'm assuming this is) and it does of course very quickly blunt them.

I bought a pair of Owner scissors for cutting braid (for coarse fishing) and they cut it easily , they even cut it with out any tension.

These were around £10/11 , but I have since seen somewhere that they are the same type of blade used in childrens plastic handled safety jobs that you can pick up for a couple of quid in most stationery stores.......I'm sure someone on The Forum will know where!

Regards

Jeff

yes with a "serated"edge i got some free with some foam sheets and it does stop the thread from fraying with a nice clean cut my others cut it well enough but not as easily as the free ones ????
