It's actually a snipe feather. Where from on the bird? I do not know as I plucked it out a bag of feathers tonight that I plucked from a snipe someone gave me last year.

At first look I thought it was a natural guinea fowl feather, then I re-checked. However it still looks fairly close to the effect you could get if you didn't have snipe.

Been using the same fly for a few seasons now , especially the back end of the season , I tend to tie the head hackle with a jungle cock feather
