Default Alder nymph / Helgramite ?

Hi Guys

I removed a complete Alder nymph from my first wild browie of the season along with shrimps, snails, cased caddis, blood worm. Those Alder nymphs are mean looking buggers !

I decicded id like to tie some to fish in the little Loch where i caught the brownie. Search the web for Alder patterns.............. didnt find anything that i thought was good enough ..............

So i had a bash myself heres my MK1 (very bad) and my MK2 which while far from perfect its much closer to what i was tring to achieve. The hardest bit has been trying to copy the breathers ? gills ? that seem very prominent indeed. They also have very powerful prominent head there legs seem to be set quiet far back compared to dragon/damsel nymph's

Both are under leaded MK1 size 8 B175 (too short) Mk2 B830 size 10 much better.

Heres what i was trying ..........to copy

Really like your longer shank pattern. It's got the X factor! What are the legs and tails tied with ?

Cheers

Some crackin' flees there E. It's not a very good imitative pattern but I believe the Ombudsman is supposed to be an alder pattern.
