Default Bibio Pattern

Like to tie a nice bibio pattern, look here.
On the famous Dutch lake Oostvoorne it's a must have fly in april/may.
The big rainbows really like to chew them.

Have fun tying!

Great fly - I will tie a few in the morning

Some Great photo's as well - You are well travelled in search of trout.

Cracking fly Hoff. Could use that one throughout the season.

Any particular reason that you didn't incorporate a little red/orange as used in the more standard pattern?

thanx Mies.
No reason, I just like it just like this and it works well. Never change a winning fly!

Not like any bibio i have ever seen.
Looks more like a blowfly pattern a mate of mine ties

Cheers

There's more than one Bibio...

Bibio Marci - Hawthorn
Bibio Pomonae - Heather fly
Bibio Johannis - Black Gnat

I suspect the 'Bibio' handle in this case is simply applied to cover the Genus. Not sure, but I presume that Pomonae is not common in Holland.
