What I do is open the lead shot with a Knife and place over the hook near the eye onto a layer of thread which will help make it solid and stop the spin and coming off, then using a pair of pliers crimp it on around the hook, flattening the shot on the sides enough not to over do it, then super glue on.
have to say it is the best way I have found and you do still lose some but as long as its as far towards the top of the cut and even(the hook being in the centre of the shot when you crimp it)it should hold alot better .Im sure there is better ways but thats the only way i know to do it apart from melting the lead to the hook.or buying them already madeon the hook.
hope this is of some help.

Super Glue works for me my fellow fly tying friend. Failing that buy some tungsten tying beads, they work a treat

Tight threads !!

Tungsten beads are heavier for their size than lead/lead free & they fit a wide range of hooks. They will only ever come off the fly if the eye breaks off the hook. Shot is going back to the early 80's when there was no other alternative available, very few people use it these days. If it's still not heavy enough for you, then you can always use lead wire etc underneath the body dressing as well as or instead of beads.
