Either Gerry from Artifly (Ruthvenflyfisher) or Bill McIlroy (Pearly Dabbler) would be able to guide you in the right direction...

Could someone advise exactly what is a genetic cape please. I was recently looking at a tying recipe and it said " no need to use genetic capes ".

I know the quality is better than say a chinese neck cape and genetic capes tend to be more expensive, but a definition would answer a few questions.

Any help appreciated.

A 'genetic' cape is obtained from a strain specifically bred for the fly tying market, first bred in the USA I think. They are NOT genetically modified as the name might suggest, they're just improved through selective breeding from one generation to the next.
