Default Will this work ???

Right I wanted to tie something along the lines of a mayfly emerging . I had to come up with something using what limited hooks and materials I have . Please bare in mind I have never tied this type of thing before and as for the hackle I don't even know the proper name for it I don't know how you tie it the right way and made it up as I went along so if anyone has an SBS please it would help .
Anyway I wanted something that looked like it still had the shuck , that is the idea with the tail .
I have had it in a glass of water and it does sit very nice and looks good to my eye but question is will it work ?? Will the fish like it ???
Any pointers , ideas, help , comments , shooting down in flames etc..... as I feel very out of my depth on this one !!

Here's an alternative for ye Danny..... for the 'shuck', why not try a few strands of the poly yarn that you've used for the post?
