I've found Davie McPhail's You Tube videos excellent help for me, as a novice tyer.

Also, Dave Downies fly school, really applicable techniques.

Davie McPhail on you tube, top idea, fly tying kit, bad idea. You will get plenty material in the kit that has been superceded by better materials...yester years junk. Not only that, you will get small quantities of the junk, **** hooks etc. DIY, buy stuff you will use. You could ask the question on this forum what other tyers recommend for somebody starting out.....hope this helps

If you are going the kit route which is not a bad starting point IMHO do not go for the Lureflash. You will send Arkle into a spin! Try a different one although you will probably end up replacing everything anyway. Go for a kit which is aimed at specific patterns with instructions.

Lots of comment on here regarding books etc - take the search key out for a stroll.

Best of luck.
