Is it crystals or solution that the question is about.

You need a saturated solution to dye with. Solubility of Picric ACid is 1.40g/100l (at room temperature) so dissolve about 14g of crystals (or a bit more because they will be wet) in 1l of deionised water.

As long as the material you are dying is submerged that will be sufficiant.

So you are recommending to use the saturated water solution (undiluted).
Do I get it correctly?

I am also contemplating working with picric, but so far I was puting it of due to explosive nature of the crystals
