Default Anybody got a copy of 'World Fly Finder' by Peter Cockwill?

If so, could you take a look at page 242 - 'Black Gnat' and tell me what you see in the picture? That doesn't look like a 'Black Gnat' dry fly to me on my copy and the dressing doesn't match the picture.

I want to see if it's my copy before mailing the publisher.

The fly shown on the page of mine has a Peacock Quill body and no tail. The hackle and the mallard wings are as per Black Gnat.

Check out page 170 also, I think you'll find another error.

I've emailed Annova who now own that brand to see if they have anything to say.

Just one more thing, PM me if you don't want to answer on the forum . I saw that book in a local book clearance store, I hadn't seen it anywhere else. Did you pay full whack for it or did you get it at one of these stores? It could be the reason that it made it into one of these stores of course

Regards,

-Andy

So, what is it called?

Click the image to open in full size.

It has a stripped peacock quill body taking about 1/2 the hook, hackle and wings taking the rest. 2 mallard wings the same size as the body overall including the hackle section and of course a long black cock hackle.

I had to look at it closely so I tied it up from the image. Apologies for the light. Photographing anything in our house after dusk is appalling.

The proportions are consistent with what is in the book. I didn't just scan the book because of copyright of course (or Copy Wrong in this case )

It's not what I know as a Black Gnat but it was on their Black Gnat page along with the dressing that I know for the proper Black Gnat.

Ever wish you could rename thread??
