A long way from home, but if you ever get to fish the Deschutes River in NE Oregon for Summer Runs Steelhead that pattern would be a major 'go-to.' Odd river in one sense, you can use about any colour you want in the lower river, but it had better have purple in same. Only river I know of where that is the one colour the fish absolutely key in on.

Bye the Bye, hit the lower river in mid August/early September. As a norm the fish run (at/below Mac's Canyon) is at it's peak and you really can have 5-10 fish days.
