Default An old tying from the cupboard...

Rooting in my tying kit and came across this wee chappie tied by a 15yr old (me – in the 1970’s)!.
Also messing about with my son’s new camera which turns out much better than mine, so thought I’d post a pic.

Bit of a messy head but it was tied in the 1970’s and I don’t think the obsession with neatness in flies had taken off!
Here’s my old “stock” box it came from; I used to sell the flies I'd tied via the local tackle shop in town (actually = toon) and also via an ad in the fishing press – bargain prices eh?

Each price list had to be hand typed - laborious process

I don't think the years have been kind to that poor fly Noeyedeer but hey I am willing to bet it could still catch a few.

Yep, it's waited long enough and is now in my flybox ready for a swim.
Interestingly I've fished a few other flies from this old stock and the feathers and thread don't appear to degrade even after 30 yrs in storage !

The flies in the box look fairly decent.

They look very good Dave, if the prices are still the same, I am up for an order.

Cheers for the little view into the past Noey. I really enjoy looking at old patterns, although the 70s isn't that old to be honest, speaking as someone who started in the 70s that is. Sometimes it's amazing how aesthetically different the same pattern can look these days, even using exactly the same materials the resultant fly can have a very different feel and appeal to it.
