Default Started tying again after 15 years

Hi,
I recently purchased new fly gear including a fully loaded fly tying kit and remembering when I was a kid I used to enjoy the odd bit of fly tying.
To my surprise the same guy was still running the fly tying classes at my local school in the evenings (35 years he's been doing this!!!).... so I nipped in to see if I could remember a thing or two.
After a couple of hints and tips, I went away and started throwing some fluff onto hooks. Here's a couple I made, some are copied from books and a couple are some ideas thrown together..... especially the buzzer with the blue tail, I’ve named it the Ibrox Buzz, if anyone has been to a match at Ibrox you will know what I mean.
I'm open to constructive criticism (on the flies, not football team..lol)
Cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin, For a chap wo hasn't tied in 15 years you are doing well. With a bit of practice you will be able to judge how much room to leave for the head.I dont mean to be critical, in fact the opposite but you don't need 1/3 the hook shank for it.I think all of the flies bar one will catch fish (the black pennell type of one) The buzzers are spot on except I'd lose that blue tail.I couldnt see it working.

Thanks seanie... any comments are welcome.

I'll concentrate on the head size from now on.

Hi Kevin,

Go onto Davie Mcphails website, hell show you how to tye some cracking patterns m8. Step by step instruction from a great fly-tyer.

The best way to learn, I think, is to tye loads of one pattern until you are good at it, then move on to another one, until you are fluent in all the techniques. If you jump around doing to many different patterns youll spend more time getting all the different materials out the packet!! (My humble and totally unproffesional opinion)

Keep at it, youll get there. If one things true in fly-tying, its practice makes perfection.
