Default Blae & Black

At the start of the year I joined the Lakeland Fly Dressers Guild, to improve on my fly tying. Although I have been tying off & on for a few year I have never had any lessons and thought this would be the way to go.
Antway Last week was the last tying night until November and we were tying the Blae & Black.

After some (lots) practice, here is my best attempt so far.

Looks quite good and will certainly catch the fish.

In terms of fly tying skills though the tippet tail has slipped around the hook, the rib is too widely spaced, the hackle is too big and straggly and tied in too far back from the eye and the head is too long. Decent wing though.

Not that the fish care.

Well done Clansman, the wing is excellent, definitely the hardest part of that pattern.
