Default Using hen hackle for river wets....

I know spiders more commonly utilise game bird hackles, but what's to say that a bit of well-marked hen wouldn't work too? The flies below are all tied using Lakeland's tasty dyed grizzle hen capes. What do you think - worth a chuck, or should I stick to the shotgun's choice?

Cracking ties i use hen on most of my flies now including spiders, i actually prefer it to partridge etc, you still get the movement and it just looks better imo! its also more economical as you get approx 3-4 flies per hackle.

I like the dyed brahma capes from lakeland

Matt,
I have some Whiting Brahma hen capes which are the bees knees. These come in Dark, Light and a ginger. I think as game hackles become harder to get, these will replace (or are capable of replacing) a lot of game feathers. I am in the process of doing a re-tie of some of the traditional patterns using these as a test.
Good ties mate.
