This is the one I use -

It has a circular daylight tube and a 17cm lens. The hook, just visible in the lens is a size 20.

Hi Dibbler.
Here is my set up.

I don't look through the magnifier I just use the light allthough it does come in useful sometimes. Just as important IMO is a good backlight. Good daylight bulbs or fluorescents are the key.
Quality lighting is essential.

The magnifier is a good price at present take a look,

The post above (Lighthouse) shows a lamp similar in every way to mine and I think it is bril. There is a v good magnifying glass with a surrounding circular v bright light. The anglepoise means you can place it virtually wherever you want eg without the magnification.
Maplins sell them and the last price was about £39. Spare circular tubes (light source)cost £6.
The lens is perspex I think and is easily cleaned. I got Sally Hansen on mine and a wee drop of meths took it off dead easily.
I would recommend it. Maplins sell on-line

The lamp that I use is the one here on Maplins Website 22W Fluorescent Daylight Magnifier Lamp : Magnifier Lamps : Maplin.
A great light with magnifier if needed, probably the best light for the money.

That's the one I use too. The lamp is very good and the magnifier is handy too.
