Default River Dee,North Wales

My second season as a fly fisherman and now looking to tie my own flies,I am looking for guidance on which patterns to tie suitable for trout on the R.Dee(Corwen Anglers) in (March/April/May)

Painter,

You will probably get a lot of suggestions, but for very easy tying and effectiveness, look up the Cul de Canon pattern.
Another simple pattern for early season would be small shuttlecocks, just tying thread in olive or black then CDC. Perhaps a bit of mole for the thorax.

If you practice these on #14's and #16's, you should then be able to scale down on the shuttlecocks.

The above patterns will generally catch you fish all trout season.

BTW, if using the CDC patterns tie quite a few of each one as they can get rather mashed once you start getting a few fish.
