Those hooks are so strong I think IMHO they are well up to being straightened at the eye . Some hooks are brittle , the ones you are using are not that sort of hook

People bend hooks all the time , have seen it on here a good few times also ..........

Peter ,

No matter what people say they will have differing answers , i know for a fact that ollie edwards used to heat and bend his klinkhamer hooks to produce an"extreme" bend as ive watched him doing it with my own eyes and if i remember correctly im sure he said HVK was the one that showed him how to do it and he didnt heat with a normal lighter the hook for long before taking pliers to it and bending the shank to the extreme shape he wanted, theres no need now as partridge do an extreme hook

i have found that kamasan eyes bend quite easily but fulling mill have tended to snap at the eye when bending the curved hooks- b100 and similar fulling mill pattern.
this was done cold but from now i may try annealing first
clamping the hook in a toolmakers vclamp or similar would act as a heatsink and would not affect the temper of the bend-

just to show my ignorance- are hooks tempered to same hardness thoughout or just at the bend??
