Default Looking for a pattern from Fly Fishing & Tying Mag

Last summer I found a pattern in FlyFishing and Flytying that worked really well on small still waters when the fish were up in the top layer. It was called something like "Crippled emerger" or "Crippled Hopper". I've mislaid the magazine and can't remember how to tie the fly. It really was very effective. Can anyone help? Thanks

I have looked at FF& FT issues from April 2009 through to September and whilst there are several hopper patterns as well as emergers featured, I can find nothing that also includes "crippled".

If you have any more details then I will happily look again.

Sorry I can't be of more help at this time.

Ken

Ken - good of you to look. From memory: the fly has a hackle wound paprchute style around a post of white antron. The antron is then pulled forward and tied down just behing the eye of the hook. Well I think that is what he/I did. Cheers. Paddy

Sounds like one of Stan Headleys crippled midges ,they were shown some time last year in T&S.
A PM to Troutheaven may get Stan to comment !

Think if you look on the New Fulling Mill flyer for their new flies, they are featured on there, quick call to Fulling Mill will get you sorted.

Various shades of seals fur - fine rib. Parachute hen hackle tied gallows method (no 'wing').
