Mayfly Patterns

Hi I am going to tie some Mayfly's for the coming season, Has anyone have any good patterns?. Also Blue winged olives. I have only been tying for about 4 months, But I will have a go at anything.

Hi Paul,

One of the best Blue winged Olive patterns I have used is as follows:

Hook:size 16.
Tail: Dun hackle fibres
Body: primrose, black or stripped herl.
secondary hackleun
Primary Hackle: Ginger or red game.

Sherry spinner:

Hook:size 16
Tail:Honey hackle fibres
butt: Fluro Green floss
Body:Orange seals fur
Hackle:Honey

Hello Paul

Fulling Mill have some good patterns in their portfolio.Plenty of pics on Sportfish website showing all stages of the life cycle.My fishing buddy turned up last year with some detached body Thomas Yellows he bought from Farlows and they worked very well on Hampshire and Wiltshire streams.
