hello Bear,Have to agree with seanie on his selection with 1 more adition a thunder and lightening bumble,Also Dont be afraid to hug the shorelines around the rabbit, north shore, church island and the tub that time of year and they can be just as productive than the long drifts out in the deep.

well lads,
was fishing lough carragh last sat and sunday, there was a tremendous amount of salmon leaping in the lake, i must have seen about 50 salmon each day. however to no avail i couldnt even get a hit! there were other people on the lake who caught 1 or 2 but they were all spinning, even those who had fly rods with them too. when i got off the lake the guy who rented me the boat told me that fishing for them with the fly in that lake is practically useless! and he is a fly fisher himself.
is this true or is there anyone on here who can maybe guide me in the right direction here. i am planning to go back down before the week is out and would like to have a good chance of catching one this time!

I tied some flies for a couple of lads who headed that way last year - albeit in June.
They reported back that a "slimline watson" had been the pick of the bunch. I had tied these on a size 10 B160, which was maybe a bit lightweight, they felt needed a more substantial hook!
