Default Danica Innovation Vice

Has anyone tried out the Danica Innovation Vice? My old Regency Vice has just about had it. Don't want to spend more than £100 to upgrade. I'd prefer to put the cash into the materials I use. Anyone help with either a comment on the Dancia or recommendation for another similar vice. Thanks.

Same happened to me a month or so back and I looked at every thing and in the end at the advise of a friend who ties flys and has done for the past 30 years advised me to get a vise that holds a hook well and that'll do ya was his reply so don't be impressed by the features, many of which you mightn't use.
I got an anvil apex and love the thing.

Been using a borrowed Atlas for months now, think I'll be going the Apex route soon as all the faffy bits aren't all that necessary for my level and type of flies.

Gromit supplies them I believe.

Why the huge expense on a hook holder? If you were happy with the regency vice why not get another? Gerry (Ruthvenflyfisher) has them for sale for a tenner.

If youve got a £100 budget i'd steer cler of the danvise anf get an anvil or something along those lines. The danvise is made mostly of plastic and its jaws have quite 'springy' tips - but worst of all is the access at the gape end of the hook, its awful ! Dont get me wrong, I had one for a couple of years after 'upgrading' from an AA, but always new it wasnt quite right, then all became clear when I got a 'proper' vice (lazzeri)
