Default Bogie

I picked this one out of "Flies of Scotland". I did tinker slightly with it by giving it a tail of mixed 50/50 Globrite flosses nos 11 & 12 instead of the original No12 only.

Thread - No 11 Globrite floss.
Tail - 50/50 Globrite flosses nos 11 & 12
Body - Two layers of 11 Globrite floss
Overbody - Touching turns of pearl lurex (I dab a bit of varnish on the underbody first)
Body hackle - Black Cock.
Rib - Ex-fine oval silver tinsel or silver wire.
Head hackle - Black hen
Head - No 11 Globrite floss

I have not used it myself yet, but the book I got it out of states that it can be a good fly for fishing at depth in bright sunlight in green algae stained water. I have no doubt that it will take Browns or Rainbows. The author has had good success with it fishing for wild Browns.

Troutheaven (the author) may be able to add a bit more detail here. For myself, it is the sort of fly I am tying up at the moment with Loch Leven in mind.

Very Nice Gander, I have the same flee, with just the #12 tail, on a B270 Double with Green JC Cheeks, works very well early season.

Also works well with the Mirage/Pearl tinted with an Orange Pantone pen, Along with Peach Hen Hackle and floss tail. Sort of a pearly peach palmer....

Ta for sharing.!
