Question Early Season 'X Factor' Lake Flies

Somewhat unexpectedly, I will be off fishing a smallish local lake at the start of the season.

I've been learning to tie small river flies to date, so am out of my comfort zone, I've started on some buzzers as an obvious choice but now need to decide where to go next.

The lake is stocked with fish of reasonable size, about max 20 ft deep in places but shallow in others, I currently own suitable floating and intermediate lines but may add a faster sinker.

What would be a wise combination of flies for tying up; perhaps a few essentials to get the box looking respectable for early season at short notice?

I'm off to a tackle shop in the next hour or so and on line purchasing is always a possibility, so you'll be able to influence my purchasing via the power of this thread, a bit like X Factor

Don't forget a couple of damsel nymphs, it might be a bit early for them, but that doesn't seem to worry the fish.

Ok then, seeing as no one else got in there yet i will, get some blobs tied. Kamasan b175 10's will do but wider gape more suitable. Quick, easy and deadly. All you need is fritz in the colours you fancy. add some lead, add some foam, the choice is yours. A quick run down but hope this helps

So Pop Pickers, this weeks Top Ten (well 11 but I had Buzzers on already) are:

Buzzers
Blobs
Boobies
Cats Whiskers
Diawl Bach
PTN's
HEN's
Montanas
Damsel Nymphs
Bloodworms
Bibio

Reads like a swap list!

Any helpful debate on list appreciated but I won't be able to tackle much more than the above so any further suggested additions would need to really have the 'X Factor'.

Thanks all.

Black marabou lure of some sort fished on a di3 (the airflo 40+ lines are good) with maybe a damsel as a dropper.
