Default 2 stripped herl buzzers

Well i only just realised how much i like this material so have tied up a few buzzers with it, these represent different ends of the spectrum i think.

Quite modern style and minimalist

Much busier and "traditional"

Any advice on how to improve these would be great as i know we have some real masters of the buzzer on here.

I don't think you could improve on those. Lovely flies

I'd enjoy fishing with them.

Strangely enough... I prefer the bottom one too. I tried the quill/Sally mix a while ago, and it just didn't sit quite right with me

I love stripped herl to tie with, but plucking those bits off one by one takes me ages. Is there a faster way?

I now use stripped hackle (the big ones that never get used for anything else) which seems a good substitute.

Well, I like the top one better. I like the way that the herl almost glows when you varnish it.

Marmalade - use a rubber (or should I say eraser ) or imac if your doing loads at once.

Herl / quill is easier to keep on the hook than a bit of elastic band though !!!

All the best - Steve

Many thanks for the kind words guys. I have yet to catch a fish on the first one, mainly because i have only given it a swim once i suppose but those small hares ear/stripped herl flies caught a few fish on the last day of my ressie fishing at Bewl. Only seemed to take the size 16s that day though and my eyes hurt when i tie any smaller than that.
