Default Two types of fly tyer

There are two types of fly-tyer in this world: those that can split thread and those that can't.

Sigh.

When i started tying i read some where that there is no right or wrong way only the way that suits you best. I've never been good at the spilting thread thing but i'll dub some on and get it looking roughly like it and it will still catch fish thats the main thing for me.

Don't give up take alook at Dave Wiltshire's SBS on his cdc dun where he explains the method.

Also note that he is using Sheer 14/0 thread.

River Fly Box, Tying the CDC Dun

Hope it helps

I shall keep at it! Luckily, if I go minnow fishing my finger is so full of holes I won't need a net to land them in. Wasn't a good day at the vice really..

I also bought some size 24 hooks. Can't see them anywhere.

There is a third type of fly tyer which includes me. It's called "those that don't want to!" Or rather, after 35 years of fly tying maybe it should be "those that don't see the need".

Hello Sigh, I'm with BobP on this one.

But here's one for you when wrapping the hook with a material how do you form the rib which is a different colour on the same wrap.
