Default A few Spiders / soft wings

After a winter of reading and reading and surfing and more reading and hassling a few very kind hearted souls I have a collection of spiders / soft wing wets. They will not win any tying awards or photography awards but I hope a few trout will look on them as food.

I will not be so bold yet to name them for those classics that I tried to copy.

Hook is a Kamasan B890 which is same or similar to Drennan Carbon Specimen and Daichi 1640 - these are short shank hooks . The stewarts black is on a size 14.

Most coarse shops should have either the drennan or the kamasan - usually sold in packs of 10 for around £ 1

My preferred choice for many flys is the Kamasan B160, which is down eye, these have all the qualities of the B160 and the straight eye is fantastic for allowing more wraps at the head without it looking enormous. Maybe its just my old eyesight but these hooks seem very inconspicious when dressed.

I thought they were the Drennan specimens. Tied some black spider the other day on them.
They do a gold hook, sweetcorn special, worth a wee bit extra flash
Cheers.

6 Months of research have concluded and have resulted in my fly box containing a large number of softwings , purely on the recommendation of Mike Connor's.

Sunday they got their first serious swim and the greenwells softwing above accounted for 7 fish, the best a superb 2 1/2 lber , in 7 years fishing this river I can safely say it is in the top ten of the best fish I've taken for this river where 1lb is a good fish.
