Default best height for vice?

ok guys a question,

there are workplace assessments for computer terminals etc,

is there a recomended height for a tying bench, or height of vice head?

i have a set up on an old bedside dressing table

height from floor to bench is 700mm

i use a danvice and it sits a further 250mm

totalling 950mm from floor

seat height is 500mm

reason im asking is im 6'8" 2.05 m and just recovered from a prolonged back injury after a fall on ice prior to christmas

i know some will say whats comfotable butwonder if any of the pro tiers have a formula(?) they use for correct hieght?

any help would be much welcomed

thanks

andrew

Well Andrew, if you're 6ft 8 inches, may I suggest first thing to do is to dig, or make, a big hole in front of your bench, just enough to bring you down to around 6 ft....

Default Height of vice

i read something on here a while back about this and the suggestion was as follows;- Whilst sitting in front of your vice, clench your fist and hold it on the underside of your chin, the height for the jaws of your vice should be roughly at the same level as your elbow. I did follow this advice and it more or less works for me.

There is no correct height, what suits one person would not necessarily suit another. Too many variables. A line of sight from your eye through the hook to a light background of about 45deg or slightly less is about right but adjust to suit your personal preference.
Tight Lines
PS 6ft 8" with a dicky back, may be a problem

I tie with the vice right up at my nose somenights and down below my shoulder others because I am very short sighted in one eye and depends on how bad my eyes are as I have to use the short sighted eye once the good one gets to bad if its tired.
