Default Beginner seeking some feather clarity!

Hi everyone,

I was looking for some kind souls to explain some feather related questions to me.

Could you please let me know what the difference is between capes, saddles, necks etc for hackles?

Am I right in saying that cock hackles are stiffer and used for likes of Klinks and classic dries? Hen being softer and used for likes of classic wets?

I am trying to tye some classic loch flies at the moment like the soldier palmer and Kate Mclaren. What hackles should I be using here? Can you recommend good makes etc to go for. I only have indian hen and cock at moment. Will these do the trick or is it worth investing in better quality?

Sorry for all the questions but I don't really know any other tyers to ask.

Cheers,

Coco
