Default Stonefly bobbin holder

Hi guys has ne1 got or had a stonefly ceramic bobbin holder or had any experience with them.Ordered another ceramic bobbin holder and they were out of stock so was asked if i would accept one of the above instead, bad move on my part.
Went to use for the 4th time and whilst changing spool the arm just snapped and detatched itself,a very flimsy design indeed.Cant tie now as thrown old ones in bin.
Dont want to say much more as am awaiting reply from seller and dont want to slate anybody before they reply to my grievence, was just wondering if ne1 has any feedback for me.

Thanks guys
Taff

I don't like Stonefly stuff, and I am not alone either.
Very poor quality, and overpriced, IMO.
Try and get your money back, and buy another.

i was looking at the stonefly kit and asked for advice on this very forum. needless to say the feedback i recieved was in line with the problems you are describing. i have bought c&f tools and they are beautiful to use. good luck eith your refund. jon mcmillan.

the stonefly bobbin holder is the worst fly tying tool i have bought thus far. you cant adjust the bobbin tension and the tube becomes weak and loose in the plastic moulding- shame is it cost more than a griffin holder which is excellent.

I am quite surprised they are still selling this. The bobbin holder in particular is very prone to breaking, a fact that has been well documented over the years. Looks like they still have done nothing about it after all these years. I mean they must be aware of the complaints.
No get another. There are others but the C& F ones are good if a bit pricy.

You could get one of those Tiemco Japan Ceramic bobbins have heard alot on here saying about, think Davie McPhail uses one in his Videos.

Default Noooooh

Anything but Stonefly is a good starting point when considering what brand to buy. I have never used equipment so poor, in fact its so poor I would not give it away, I just binned it and learnt a lesson

Dont touch one, they break so easily! bought one and had it replaced 4 times, everyone has snapped at the shoulder when changing spools, absolute piece of ****, would normally just bin something if it broke but i was so annoyed with the poor quality i had to return them.

Stonefly dubbing needle fell apart, hackle pliers are useless, scissors are ****, looks good and the magazines love them but honestly please dont waste your time and money.

I use tiemco ones and would never use anything else now, total quality!
